The Yokogawa ALR121 is a serial communication module that allows a field control station (FCS) to communicate with subsystems such as FA-M3, Modbus, MELSEC-A, YS, SLC500, and PLC-S.  It is a dual-redundant module, meaning that it has three pairs of communication ports for redundancy.  This ensures that communication will not be interrupted even if one port fails.

The ALR121 can communicate at a variety of transmission speeds, including 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400 bps.  It also supports a variety of communication protocols, including FA-M3, Modbus, MELSEC-A, YS, SLC500, and PLC-S.
